ReMode Renfrewshire is a not-for-profit community interest company whose mission is to raise awareness of the environmental impacts of the fashion and textiles industry, and to work with our communities in Renfrewshire to deliver practical solutions and share positive steps to reduce these impacts.
We run creative hands-on workshops all designed to teach practical skills that extend the life of fabrics and garments, using techniques such as natural dyeing, printing, sewing and mending. Our workshops, exhibitions and events also include various multimedia projects including film, animation, journalism, sound and performance - all aimed at raising awareness of the climate change issues surrounding the fashion industry.
This work has been created through a series of open call community workshops in Paisley, Renfrewshire, where returning participants were tasked with creating a textile installation which uses discarded materials and clothes. They used various hand and machine sewing techniques to explore the themes of metamorphosis and our relationship with clothing in an age of mass production, fast fashion and climate crisis.
