Forest Chandelier

Brother and sister, Pete and Sue Hill have been making art together since 1996. Using natural and found materials they make large scale installations in response to landscape and story. Their work has taken them to many extraordinary places; Bhutan, the Rift Valley, Hong Kong, Slovakia, and home to Cornwall too. Both have made theatre with Kneehigh and WildWorks. Pete is a glaciologist and expedition guide working in polar regions, most recently with British Antarctic Survey. Sue has worked for over 20 years with the Eden Project, initially as Artistic Director, more recently leading on story and performance for their International Team.

Much of our work places the human form in the midst of nature, often made of natural materials. 'Forest Chandelier' is a playful take on the mirror ball. During the day it reflects its environment, is acted upon by the movement of trees, the passing of clouds, birds, insects. At night the action is reversed, the mirror faces casting light onto their surroundings, the tree canopy, the soil beneath.
