‘Second Sight’ is a site-specific acrobatic intervention developed for the Neverending Glen, focusing on themes of partial perception and occlusion. This performance builds upon an ongoing research-led acrobatic project, seeking to engage audiences in an exploration of how certain aspects of existence often remain just beyond our awareness.

Drawing inspiration from folklore, the performance highlights a recurring motif where mythical beings tend to vanish when they are observed directly. Traditionally, these liminal creatures are said to be visible only to children and individuals who are distracted, intoxicated, or sleep-deprived. Performers Jonah and H. Barton will engage in unconventional partner acrobatics at the fringes of the forest, deliberately remaining just outside the direct line of sight of onlookers. Upon being approached or closely observed, they will either retreat into the surrounding foliage or act as though they are not engaging in anything extraordinary. Conversely, when encountering a child or anyone perceived as "distracted," they will hold their ground, allowing for interaction and engagement. ‘Second Sight’ aims to channel the essence of folklore as a form of pre-scientific understanding—an intuitive awareness of phenomena that exist on the periphery of our perception. Through this intervention, audiences are invited to experience the hidden vibrancy of forests and woodlands, which can be articulated both through storytelling and scientific narratives.
